So i have a question and kind of a rant lol so be prepared when reading .. So me n my boyfriend arent married so i want to give the baby my last name plus his like hyphened will the baby go by my last name or his mainly ? ... My in laws r saying i shouldnt do my name because he needs to be a mays like his dad n just take mays as his last name but i feel like if were not married then no n also im the very last person with davidson in our family once im gone my last name does with me so i feel like even though it will be a new generation of davidson-mays he is still carrying on my name some what

you can put it hyphenated and use whichever you chose to use. my son has my last name and when I married my husband he changed his last name to mine so it worked out for us

I'm married and still will be hyphenating my son's name. my first has my last name as well.

I'm pretty sure you can do both. My maiden name would have died with me so my first son has my last name, and my second son has my married last name. I'm pretty sure when you deliver you can tell whoever is in charge of doing the birth certificate you want both names hyphenated.

if u do both he will always go by both. .. i used mine and my bf last names and they always call my daughter with both names
