When Russell was in the NICU we learned to give a baby CPR in case of an emergency.
This was a year ago. Today was the scariest day of my life and I share it here because I feel that as moms no one will judge me. My son choked on a piece of cantaloupe his grandma gave him. He usually always chokes a little eating but this time he wouldn't breath. I panicked I couldn't think of anything all I did was pat him in the back and cry and scream. My face and hands went completely numb I couldn't even think of calling 911 but lucky grandma did. He stopped choking right before the paramedics got there. He swallowed the piece of cantaloupe he basically saved himself. I can't help but feel horrible because I couldn't do anything for my baby 😞. He's perfectly fine now, happy as can be. Please mommys please learn to give CPR and Heimlich maneuver. Today I go to sleep very sad because I just couldn't help him, I failed him, even though he's ok 💔
hugs momma. glad he's okay. your story is a great reminder that we all need to take a refresher course in CPR.
Very different when it's someone you just can't imagine your life without! It literally hurts my soul @valrocks
It's one thing to be taught something. It's another to use it in a stressful time.
I usually act so quick but I just couldn't do anything when I saw that he wouldn't stopped choking I just wish I could stop thinking about it 😞 I need to be ready and learn what to do. I never want to fail him @karnamarie
Don't blame yourself. I was a lifeguard and a first responder and what I have learned is some people do well in emergencies and some don't. It's also very different when it's someone you love. The only thing that matters is your baby is safe and is alright.
Thank you so much 😢 but i can't stop thinking about his face and how he looked at me and all I did was panicked I'm so hurt. 💔 @mrsrose
@suddymaya Thank you 💗 I really appreciate that.
