When should I start looking for a pediatrician? Before or after baby is born?

@purpledpink, Thank you just made a appointment of chimney rock its also Texas Children's Pediatrics but I believe its in Gulfton

Also, you want to choose one before, bc typically that is who will come check the baby and discharge them from the hospital

@jovromero, where in Houston are you? We use Texas Children's Pediatrics. LOVE THEM! I'm in the heights, and take my son to the one off Kirby and 59. I have LOTS of good pedis there

@jovromero, you tell the hospital who the pediatrician is and they call them when you have your baby

Here in Dallas they give you a list to choose from and u go from there, and the pedi on call is who checks on baby.

Before!! They ask you who it is at the hospital and if they can, they check on your baby at the hospital

I got induced and I didn't pick one until the day after I gave birth. We got released on a Saturday and I had to call that following Monday to make her first appointment which was the next day in Tuesday. Only reason I had to make it so soon was because she had jaundice a little bit. They usually tell you to make it within a week of them being born. @jovromero at least that's how it is up here.

@britt16, I have an idea of who takes my insurance Im just not sure if I should book it now. Plus idk if I'm getting induced or not. So I'm trying to figure out when to make his appointment.
