Has anyone had a cat with a newborn. My dad keeps saying that cats are known to smother babies. I just want to know if anyone has had any problems like that.
Just remember just because it didn't happen to someone else doesn't mean it wont happen to you. I personally know someone who lost their baby due to their cat suffocating it. as long as you keep the cat away from the baby you should be fine. And I heard its just newborns.
we have 3 all under a year old. they haven't once caused any problems with our son
I wouldn't get a kitten who was just weaned from its mother cause that could maybe cause a problem but I've always had cats and none of my cats ever bothered the baby. My one cat actually would sleep in the crib with my 2 boys and just sleep at the opposite end away from the baby. It was actually really cute. I wouldn't worry to much honestly and just watch closely
It's definitely true. I wouldn't say all cats but I think it's just an instinct. When my oldest son was a baby I caught the cat jumping up in his bassinet snuggling really close to him (fur in his face). I'm not sure why but I had to get rid of Mr. Fluff Bottom @bria @jodanmarie
I didn't plan on leaving her alone with the baby. Thank you guys. @bria hope this helps.
My family keeps saying that too but it's a superstition in my opinion. My in laws never had an issue with it or anyone I know. I mean, you shouldn't ever leave an animal alone with a baby anyways.
Can you tag me when you get a response ? I'm curious also. although I could never see my cat doing that. He's not the type to be aggressive or even spiteful
I've had my cat for 3 years. He's very good with my 3 mo. He knows to be gentle around him. He'll sniffle him and nuzzle (or mark him lol). At first he'd jump in/on his things but he's learned not to. If anything he's uninterested with him. Idk maybe is because they have the same birthday 😅😂
