Why is co-parenting so hard? My boyfriend gets mad when I let our son throw a tantrum or cry it out (he's 1 and a half almost) but he constantly picks him up at his every whine or gets actually angry and yells at him when he doesn't need to get yelled at. It makes me feel lazy but I'm not going to pick him up every second he whines at my leg, he does it because he expects it but with another baby almost here, he won't get that treatment. So frustrating, just had to rant

Repeated experiences of unsupportive coparenting can be harmful for children. Research tells us that children who see and hear coparenting disagreements feel bad about themselves and experience guilt, stress and anxiety. Poor coparenting relationships weaken the partnership between husbands and wives, and may cause children to worry about their parents' relationship. Parental disagreements and arguments about childrearing create a no-win situation for children. They don't know which parent to listen to, are unsure of how to behave, and feel responsible for their mother's and father's problems." http://strongermarriage.org/married/parenting-requires-team-effort

Well when you have a parent that doesn't know a thing about communication, it makes it very hard. If I even try to sit down and have a mature conversation he gets an attitude, raises his voice and chooses not to listen @miracle-baby

Do your best, what helps is talking about it and making a plan for when that happens. I had to figure it out alone the first two years, it gets stressful and I've definitely made mistakes. But having a clear plan for when he's having a tantrum can make it easier on both of you.

Yeah, I know. He just doesn't plan, he doesn't do anything. He doesn't like rules or plans or organization. He's just absolutely ridiculous. If I try to do any of that (which I've tried) he gets mad and calls me crazy. I think it's more of just an issue of not being in a happy relationship and I need to figure it out because he doesn't co-anything. He's very selfish. He calls me crazy if I don't "relax" but what he means by that is me letting him do whatever he wants whenever. @indigenousmommy

He even pays rent "on his own terms" because that's the type of person he is. Now we're not allowed to sign another lease at our current townhome. He just doesn't understand that rules are in place for a reason @indigenousmommy

Sorry you have to deal with that, it sounds stressful. I hope he can learn that a little structure can make life 10x easier if you just try. If not, he may need a reality check.
