advice needed!
my 7 year old son still wets the bed at least 3 times a week, I've taken him to see a specialist and he's fine, but nothing helps I don't allow him to drink anything after 6pm, I make him use the restroom before bed and I wake him up in the middle of the night and he still wets his self, my 4 year old son never be any accidents and this is just so frustrating should I punish him because I don't feel like he even tries to avoid wetting his self
My son is 5 and pees the bed atleast 2-3x a week. We do punish him and it'll help for a day or so but then he goes right back to doing it. If he's stopped at his dad's from getting introuble and having your a big boy talk then you should do that also. My son is just super lazy and doesn't want to go to his bathroom, even though there's night lights. And he dreams of peeing is what he told me
And also don't let him not do certain things because of a problem he is having, that's taking away his childhood for a reason that I'm sure he's not even sure why is happening. That's like punishing someone for snoring. You can always let other parents know of the situation and send him with goodnites (a good way to limit laundry) and also maybe teach him how to throw in his own laundry quick.
And definitely no punishment, it's embarrassing I'm sure for him and it's not like he can control it or does it on purpose.
It can happen, if the doctor says he's fine, he's most likely fine! My boyfriends brother wet the bed until about 13 years old but it went away and he had no medical issues whatsoever!
maybe you should take him to the doctor because even tho you might think he's fine he might not be. my brother wet the bed till 12-13yrs old because of how weak his bladder was and it was only at night, which he was able to take medicine for or wear pulls.
Have you thought maybe he's scared of something at night? I think punishment is only going to make matters worse. Punishment in general only causes resentment and anger, two things that are not going to help your cause. Has he gone through anything traumatic that could have triggered this problem?
well I actually had the same problem as a kid, but it was just I slept so hard that my body wouldn't wake me up if I needed to pee so I just peed the bed. my mom actually started getting up every night at the same time to take me to the bathroom just to help my body get into routine, maybe try that?
All i can say is you got to give him tough love now even with the baby coming soon so he got to wake up and see that mommy needs help with him being a big boy at 7. Talk to him again and I know it's embarrassing but once you have that deep conversation with him maybe he will open up more or give him more tough loving. It will put a ease on the number of times of doing laundry and such @mrshamilton830
@deafmama16, he definetly knows the difference, but I'm tired of doing laundry 3x a week because he's being lazy and when baby comes that's even more laundry and I don't let him spend nights anywhere because it's embarrassing
Ahhh he doesn't do it at his dad because his father already gave him the "you a big boy" talk so wetting bed is bad because he gets punished by spanking if he wets the bed but when he with you he knows you won't punish him so that make him feel he can be lazy to get up to use the bathroom and just use it in bed when he feels like it(NOT calling your son lazy). If the specialist said nothing was wrong even two of them said it than you know what's up. @mrshamilton830 I understand your reason for not spanking him but maybe a punishment that's comfortable for you like no tv or whatever he likes to do and see if that works. Kids are smart but don't let him get you.
And I don't think he should be punished, some kids have a hard time with that. My brother and I both did past the age of 7
My 7yr old will still pee if I let him drink after 6:30 and don't wake him to go to the bathroom. What time is he going to bed and what time do you wake him to go to the bathroom? And when you wake him has he already peed or is it between then and when he wakes up? If my son drinks too late I wake him up 3 hrs after he goes to sleep, but he wakes up early so he won't have to go again before waking.
That's kinda normal for some kids to be honest it's nothing wrong with him more of he has to grow out of it
ma try praising him with something like if he don't wet the bed you'll take him to get his favorite food or ice cream this worked with my step son @mrshamilton830
@nygirl3rdbabymiami, he sleeps in pull ups like diapers for older kids because I'm tired of washing his sheets every other day, he gets waken up and still does it, I even talked to him and asked him if somebody was touching him or being mean to him or hitting him and he said no if he they did he will tell me so idk
@riahlala3, it's frustrating and I reward him the days he doesn't have an accident at this point I don't know what to do
@showersoverflowers, is yes he strips the bed and scrubs the mattress, my husband gets home from work around 1am and wakes them up to use the restroom I'm so frustrated
put a towel under him befors he sleeps or a waterproof sheet,, try to wake him up in the middle of night To Use the restroom, my sons are 2oyrs &13; yrs old they never had that issue but ,,I've heard it's common in boys, many nights I woke them up with their eyes closed and walked them to the bathroom, ,
@mrsmccormick, he's seen 2 specialist who confirmed he's fine, then when he goes with his dad he NEVER wets the bed because his dad will spank him, I'm not against spanking but only when he's necessary so I barely ever spank them but I feel he knows not to do it with him but since I'm more laid back he doesn't care about wetting the bed at home
Is he a deep sleeper? My mom had to get this thing that you put in his underwear looks like a cup with holes and it senses even the slightest drop of wetness and goes off like an alarm. My brother stopped wetting the bed shortly after. This device will end up waking the whole household but it does help ask about it from a pharmacy
it's harmless but noisy but, it will help as it helped my brother around that age ( I don't know what the device is called)
same exact thing with my daughter she's 10...nothing works even went to doctors. so I just stop getting mad and make her do her laundry and wear goodnights gotta just wait it out. hopefully it stops eventually
Also work on his confidence. .. Just tell him how much he is loved no matter what and encourage him tons. Do not focus on his bed wetting. Focus on all the good things. The bed wetting consequences just need to be addressed calmly and nonchalantly. do not make a huge deal out of them because this tends to break down confidence more in children
Do you make him strip the bed and do the wash? I'd also make him scrub the mattress as well. It's hard because you don't want to punish him if something is going on but if you're confident in the doctor, I'd be starting to take away certain things every accident. Start small and work up to the big stuff. He can earn things back with every dry night. You might also want to try an alarm to get up and go at 2 am.
I know it's frustrating. Maybe try putting him in Good Nites to go to sleep, just in case he had an accident - at least he wouldn't have made a mess.
NO. I wouldn't punish him at all for that. Some boys have that problem. My brother had a weak bladder and peed the bed till he was 10. It was nothing he could help or control at all.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

This is my son Walter. Today is his birthday. He would have been five. This picture was taken when he was 16 days old. He was my first child and my only son (I now have 3 girls). He passed away the next day after this picture from congenital heart failure. It was a miracle that he lived passed 12 weeks gestation because of how severe his heart defects were. I miss him so much, I can't believe it's been 5 years. It still hurts so bad. I don't talk about him a lot out loud because I end up bawling...
So my son is 5 years old and he's very behind on knowing his ABC's and numbers and also writing his name. I don't know what to do because he starts kinder next month.
Outrageous!
A 5 year old was detained and questioned at his school for taking a toy gun to show his friend. He was so scared he wet his pants and his parents weren't notified until 2 hours into the questioning. He was suspended for 10 days, but it was reduced to the 3 days he had already served after the parents and others complained. The school stated that the situation was handled appropriately and would be handled in a similar manner in the future.
My son is one year old and i want him to go back and get use to sleeping in the crib I put him in the crib and all he does is cry and I spoke to his doctor and his doctor said let him cry like in 2 or 3 days he should get use to sleeping on his own has anyone try it ?
Oh also make him take off all his bed sheets and everything and do the laundry himself
