@kaylabby22, ive been wondering whats the membrane sweep?

it's quite uncomfortable. but when the doc does a cervical check - if you're dilated any and you ask for the sweep they'll insert their finger through your cervix and just sweep their finger around to separate the amniotic sac from the cervix. basically if your body is ready, it can work within like 48 hours. if your body isn't ready there won't be any changes really. it does pose a risk of infection (as does any cervical exam/insertion of anything in the vagina) and can possibly cause your water to break. @perla43
