Transitioned Ezzie into his own room in his big boy crib last night and he only cried 20 mins and slept 7-8 this morning! That's crazy! Dr. Ferbers book is amazing!

My son still wakes up every 2-3 hours and then around 4-5 cries to come into bed😭

Oh well he's a newborn! Totally normal! Ezra had all these sleep habits to fall asleep like only@sleeping on my husband or I, so at four months we sleep trained him. Then of course teething and sleep regressions caused him to wake again a lot at night and we both work super early so we would pat him back to sleep. Wish I knew when he was younger to leave him in his crib so he could learn to fall asleep on his own. Ferbers book is a life saver. He's so knowledgable

@tracynangel, yea I've been reading up on all different articles and books. I've come to the conclusion that he likes to be swaddled. And I know a lot of people disagree but I put him down and let him cry. I do go in every 3-5 mins to let him know I'm still here but after a little he just falls right asleep. But if he's not swaddled he'll keep crying and screaming. He eats so much I'm surprised he still wakes up every couple hours

That's typical sleep patterns for a newborn. That's amazing that you're able to let him cry. Many doctors say that them crying is them protesting sort of like when we get frustrated if we keep waking up to find out pillow missing. The most important skills if for him to fall asleep on his own.

Kudos to you! I have Ezra solids at four months and he lasted longer! @samijoy

@tracynangel, I've talked to my friends who have kids and they said the same. That he needs to learn how to fall asleep on his own. And if I go in at every cry and pick him up or something he's going to eventually catch on to "if I cry, she comes" but if he sees that I'm not going to come in all the time he'll just give up and realize it's not worth it

Yes. They won't feel abandoned if they get love and affection when they are awake. It become work for them to wake themselves up to look for you. They're not sleeping and we're not sleeping. It's amazing now that Ezra can sleep on his own! Have to stay consistent or he will go back to his old habits! I would definitely do the sleep training before they can talk though because then it's heartbreaking hearing them call for you!

The gradual crying girl. I had to do it. I was falling asleep at work! You and hubby have to do it together so he sees that you're both on the same page. Get the Ferber book! Let him cry the first night for 3 mins then pat him and tell him it's nite nite time then he cries another five mins then go in and do the same then every ten mins til he falls asleep! He has to learn to sleep on his own or he will keep the job of getting up every wake up cycle to look for you! Everything he says in the book described Ezra to a T!
