totally off baby topic..... but can the cops take your car if you refuse a breathalyzer test?

You will be taken in to the station and your car can be impounded

If you refuse a breathalyzer they'll take you to jail. If nobody's with you who is sober they'll impound the car.

they impounded his car sat morning. I tried to call up and get it out they said they are taking the car.... he can't ever get it back. and the reason was because he refused to take the test @aloves @mrsschmalz @karnamarie

Yeah I'm not really sure I've ever heard of that happening over something like a DUI. They can't take your property from you forever unless it's not really your property.

the car is his.. title in his name and everything. I'm calling back up there tomorrow so I can get more details. I mean it's his first dwi it doesn't make any sense to me either! the cops were the ones who told me that. @aloves @mrsschmalz

Yes due to it being towed under the circumstances. If the vehicle wasn't in his name they could not, but due to it being his yes they can confiscate it. My brother in law was just charged with a DUI and wasn't even in the vehicle when the officers got there it was his ex girlfriends car and they wanted $600 to get it out and she didn't want to pay for it so her can was perminately confiscated as well.

just asked my dad he's a sheriff and he said they can't take it forever but they are probably waiting to get a warrant to check the car for drugs.... he said that's how they do it

my friend is a police officer and the only thing i have ever heard them taking the car forever in Most cases is if drugs are involved. @mdomke22

Only way they can take the car is if drugs are involved. My friends dad is a police officer in the DEA (drug enforcement admin.)
