Just want to share this with my breastfeeding mamas in case this happens to you.
My breast milk supply has always been ridiculously good (10 oz PER pump sesh!!) all of the sudden it dropped to ONE OUNCE COMBINED once I turned 3 months PP!! I googled this to see if that was normal & it said once you're 3 months, your hormones no longer regulate your milk supply.
My sons a big boy. Born 9 pounds & never misses a feeding. You could probably understand my frustration when I went from pumping 10oz to 1. I was quickly running out of milk and I thought I was going to have to give it up & do formula. (Nothing wrong with that, I would just prefer not to)
I made a lactation smoothie, lactation energy bites, & I drank 3 cups of mothers milk tea. On top of that I pumped every 2 hours for 2 days straight. Yes even at night. (I had to, or else I would have ran out of milk) there would be times where he would eat more than normal so what I would do is pump, wait 15 minutes & pump again. Seems a little excessive but for my baby I will do anything. 😊 Pretty soon my body understood I need more milk. My supply is back in just 2 days & I'm no longer stressed out!
Ladies, remember even after we have emptied the breast we are still not fully empty. Our bodies are incredible!!
Hope this helps for any one who is frustrated with their supply or if this happens to you once you're 3 months PP!
