I understand how uncomfortable pregnancy is, especially when you're tired and can't sleep... But if you are trying to take medicine to sleep, then that's just messed up. If it isn't proscribed by your doctor then you're basically abusing medicine that should only be used if you're sick.

My OB only okayed unisom or benadryl, but I only asked for something after a month of only getting 3 hours of sleep. unfortunately it didn't do anything but make me feel high, so I never tried it again. a lot just take whatever not realizing, so much is off limits while you're pregnant. @kelseys

@kbrown91, I see a lot of women asking if benadryl is okay to take since they're pregnant, but I feel like they should ask their OB that and not rely on our answers just because our Doctor told us yes or no to something.

That's what I always tell them, bc each OB is different. My last OB didn't recommend benadryl. & I feel like you should only take what your doctor recommends since you're under their supervision. But I've seen some taking melatonin and I know that's a big no no. @kelseys

My Ob suggested Benadryl as well he said he'd rather me sleep and get plenty of rest .. I haven't needed it since my first trimester but I do know the third will be brutal and I'll use it if I need to

Then again my ob won't let me take anything else even told me no probiotic yet everyone else takes it so Benadryl can't be to bad if it's the only thing next to Tylenol I'm allowed 😩
