a newborn should be waking up to eat every 2-3 hours. Not to scare you or anything, but newborns don't have the ability to store sugars to keep their blood sugar where it's supposed to be so letting them sleep for long periods of time within the first month isn't a good idea...
It is okay for the baby to sleep threw the night. My daughter slept threw the night since the day she was born and her pediatrician told me that it was ok. They will wake up when they are hungry so let them be. There is nothing wrong with it. I was even told to be thankful and that I'm lucky. She was a 8 pound 11 ounces and healthy all of the time.
@emkasting, @mrssanderson @meganeileen6 @ktwins188 I just took her to the doctor yesterday and they said she was healthy.. you guys are freaking me out...
To the people who are saying it's okay...it's not. Like @mrssanderson said young babies like that aren't able to regulate their blood sugar on their own. No not all babies will wake up every 2-3 hours to eat...that's why you have to wake them up yourself and feed them. I promise I'm not trying to freak you out! It doesn't mean there's something wrong with your baby! But at that young of an age they HAVE to be woken up to eat...especially if they aren't back up to their birth weight yet
Seriously don't worry! I'm sure your baby is perfect! I'm just telling you what I learned at the hospital and in countless childcare classes. my baby was in the NICU for almost 3 weeks (not a preemie) and they taught me about feeding schedules n such. I'm just passing along info, definitely not trying to scare you
yes im not trying to freak you out at all girl! but like others have said until they're back past their birth weight they need to be woken up to eat every 2-3 hours.

a 3 day old shouldn't be sleeping through the night...when they're that young you have to be waking them up to eat every few hours
