Is it possible to dilate without feeling contractions ?

It is possible. I was dilated to 5 and didn't ever have 1 contraction until the night I went into labor.

i was 3 cm for 2 weeks then boom contractions and baby was here in an hour

@jk0516, really !!? I was wondering because I'm 36 weeks I'll be 37 on Thursday last week at my appt I wasn't dilated she just said it was soft I was wondering if it was possible I'd dilated

@amyrrah22, I went into labor at 39weeks 5 days and had him at 39weeks 6days. It alone while in labor took me 6 hours to dilate 1cm. But yes very possible. Around 38 weeks I was at 3cm but everyone is different. And it took me from 38 weeks til 39 weeks to dilate 2cm more.

@amyrrah22, 39 weeks is full term. And yep it's possible to be dilated without feeling contractions.

Nope it's been 39 weeks for a few years now. Some docs haven't caught up with the research @mgncal89
