Ladies, have you had a check up and clean at the dentist in your third trimester? I'm due to go this afternoon and at nearly 37 weeks pregnant I'm scared it may affect my baby? Is it safe to have this done? I'm wondering whether it would be better to just leave it until baby is born xxx

If it's only a check up & clean then there's no harm at all. We wouldn't get free dentistry while pregnant if it were 😊

That's ok. We all worry about these things sometimes. I'm funny about having the vaccines when pregnant but obviously their fine as they wouldn't be recommended! Lol

@jetrum, Yeah, it's perfectly safe! I've had no problems with my teeth, ever. Until i got pregnant! Now I've had a cavity & a filling! They'll only do what's safe! They want to x-Ray one of mine but won't until I've had the baby, but they've done other things to protect/heal it! Just make it clear that your pregnant! :) x

Check up is fine, cleaning too. Anything that requires local anaesthesia is considered safe enough, but might affect the baby in a minor way. I'm still going for my check up and cleaning, and then I'll just play it by ear and decide what I want to get done now and what can wait a few months :)
