Okay this may be dumb but my fricken boyfriends father keeps insisting I need to ask this question. Are classes required? He says if we don't take a class about how to care for a newborn they will not allow my boyfriend in the delivery room with me. That doesn't make any sense...

No totally up to you, not required. I never did any classes and I was just fine

To be sure you can call the hospital you're delivering at and ask them

@cubanese, lol I know. He keeps insisting that's the case.

BS. Lol like they would actually keep a father out over a class.

The nurse will actually go over how to care for a newborn when baby is born anyways.

Neither my Hubby nor I even had the chance to take a class. That's complete bullshit. They can be helpful but are not necessary

That may have been true 20-30 years ago in some hospitals although I doubt it but I know for sure that isn't true anymore. You don't have to take classes. and tbh the classes aren't all that helpful in my opinion. I did them with my first, birthing classes, newborn classes and I didn't use any of the info from birthing classes and once my son was born instinct kicked in and I just did what I felt was right.
