*My labor and delivery story*

To start off my story on Wednesday I went to my Dr for a regular appointment and got checked for dilation, I was dilated to a 1 like before but increased in effacement which I was at 80%. Thursday I decided I wanted to go on a walk to help things progress which they did by all means lol that night I was having lots of bh and started getting light lower back pains that got slightly worse throughout the night and they continued to the next day. I thought they could have been contractions so I tried timing them and they were about 7 minutes apart for about 30 seconds. I told my mom my back was hurting on and off and she said that my back was gonna hurt being this far along. she was basically didn't think I could be in labor cause I wasn't doubled over in pain lol well we had errands to run for my sisters birthday and my back continued to hurt and the pain was getting worse but I could still deal with it. At the party I was having a hard time eating cause every time I got pain I wanted to throw up. It was close to 8 by now and leaving the party I got really irritated cause I wanted to drop them off and go get checked out at the hospital. so I drove myself and when I got checked in and went up to triage the checked and I was having strong contractions and was at a 2 and they said about 50% effaced I asked why that was once my Dr said 80 and she said it was just a preference thing and I was in severe pain with all contractions being in my back I needed something for pain so they gave me motrin and I laid down trying to get through each one and felt a weird squirting of liquid and then leaking so I thought it could have been my water (it wasnt) but the nurses had me walk for about an hour with a pad to see if it collected anything and then I was checked again and dilated to a 3 so I was admitted and in early labor. They gave me deloted to help with pain so I could rest and then got moved to my new room. I decided I wanted the epidural but they said I had the wait till I was at least 5 cm to get it. They checked me and I was at 4-5 cm and completely effaced and they started my iv and fluids so I could get the epidural which would take about an hour. contractions were so bad and all in my back and upper thighs that I needed the nurses to rub my lower back in order to get through them. I was about 75% done with the fluids and they were gonna call the anesthesiologist to give me the epidural but decided they would check me first and I was at 10 cm! I was told i couldn't get the epidural and started bawling cause I thought I couldn't do it without it. They constantly reassured me I could and started me on practice pushes which eventually broke my water so the dr didn't have to lol by now my mom and sister showed up to coax me through the delivery. (baby's dad wasn't present cause I didn't think id be having her that night and he doesn't have a car or license so couldn't get a way up there. I wasn't phased by it though and was kinda glad he wasn't there cause he'd probably be traumatized tbh 😂) I pushed for about an hour and at 6:43 am my little girl was born into the world, all natural birth which I'm still shocked I did lol 😊 I love my little Lily with all my heart and couldn't be happier!
