My newborn is a week old today and has so far been great at breast feeding. He was weighed again at 5 days old and is almost back to birth weight. The since Thursday evening he has been eating every 4 hours and I have found I am needing to wake him to feed him. He seems to be getting enough....just gulping it down haha and feeds for approx 12-20 mins per side. He is not fussy at all during the day unless he needs to burp. Should I be concerned I am needing to wake him to eat? Is every 4 hours okay? I know that can change by even tomorrow morning but just want to check. When I do wake him to eat he is content and latches right away.... He doesn't seem over hungry. First time mom by the way. Thanks!!! 😊

I think your lil one's doctor would best answer that, no?

The general rule is once they pass birth weight you don't need to wake baby, they will wake when hungry. However I would double check with your doc!

I don't think you have to wake them up to feed after they've reached their birth weight again. My baby girl is 6 weeks old as of yesterday and she wakes up every 3 hours to feed. So enjoy the sleep if you can get it!
