Almost had a panic attack and started crying because my MIL reinforced why I don't trust her alone with my one month old son, but I can't tell my hubby cause he'll just say that she did the same things with him and his brother and sister and they all turned out just fine.
MIL wanted me to eat. Made food. Took Joshua. Proceeded to bring him into her room and close the door. She put him on a pillow on her king size bed, covered him with a towel, and then made a barrier around him with big fluffy pillows. And then left the room and shut the door to make my husband food. I'm sorry, but I don't think my son should ever be unsupervised in a king bed full of fluffy blankets and pillows. Ever.
So I'm trying to research stuff on SIDS so I can tell my hubby but apparently most Mexicans are naturally immune to SIDS. Hispanics have a lower infant mortality rate from SIDS than white people. Mexico has a lower rate than the US. How?? I'm trying to explain why I worry and the research is just blowing it back in my face. I don't know what to do anymore...

you need to speak with someone other than the people on this App. maybe a psychiatrist. and I understand you want to enforce the rules regarding baby, but you have to understand its your boyfriends child too.

I have 2 boys one 4 yrs old and my youngest is 12 months. My first son couldn't sleep in crib or bassinet he would sleep in our king size bed 24/7 since he was born I'm Hispanic/Mexican so it's okaii for children to sleep in the bed. That's really good she is helping you out. My mother in law always works so with my first was kind of hard. That's just my opinion.

@nichole_lynn, husbands. And I get that. What drives me nuts is he knows my stance on it and he agreed full heartedly until his mom did it. Then all of a sudden it's okay. Plus he has talked to his mom about not putting him in a fluffy pillow. Multiple times. And he knows that I already have an anxiety and panic disorder. He himself admits he doesn't have much by way of paternal instinct. It took him three weeks to figure out how to put on a diaper by himself. But apparently my maternal instinct doesn't mean jack squat compared to his moms.

@monanl1991, I'm fine with him in the bed. Just not surrounded by super soft and fluffy pillows and blankets and definitely not unsupervised.

He has a bassinet. He usually does just fine in it. It's all set up right next to the bed.

@monanl1991, I know she's trying to help. But even after agreeing multiple times to not do stuff like this, she still does. I move around a ton in my sleep and my husband doesn't wake up if Joshua is crying. So I don't want him to get used to just being in a bed. He's already starting to reject the bassinet.

The reason she sorrounded him with pillows is so he won't fall of the bed. If there's no pillows he can roll over and fall of the bed.

The other part is that I'm in my old hometown bc that's where my in laws live. I have PTSD and being here puts me on edge. I already had multiple triggers yesterday and after one trigger it doesn't take much to send me into a panic attack. So holding my son keeps me calm. I would have held him until my MIL had my husband's food on the table too.

My mother in law is the same way I tell her not to do it and she still does it my mom is the same way they just wanna help us. At first I didn't see like that but now after being pregnant for the third time I understand for example I tell her don't give the kids sweets and she does they both do they just grandmas

@monanl1991, yeah but I went to check on him and one of the heavier pillows was over his face since he had squirmed around enough to slide off the pillow she had put him on.

And the demon kitten was shut in the room with him. It seriously attacks anything that moves and is the most aggressive cat I've ever met. And I work with difficult cats. I herded it out when I went to check on him

Just be patient with her don't push her away couse if you do when you will need her help she won't be there she will remember you pushed to the side I tell you by experience I did when I had my second child she didn't help she told me you think you know everything you don't need my help i felt bad learned my lesson we as parent never stop learning about kids. It's good you have her I bet she knows a lot of good home remedies that will help your baby when he is sick or constipated. I'm just really happy I got over that and she would be helping me with my daughter as soon as she is born. In three weeks.

Okai well the cat part I understand just talk to your husband and let him know about the cat so he can talk to her about it.
