i get a free one from wic

well because of my job i may need it so my father and husband can feed my son

i was told at about 6 months its ok to start backing off the breastmilk and introducing formula. i just know i may not be able to be the only one to feed my son. so it might be good to pump so my dad or husband can feed while i work

No. I didn't get one until about 6 months and it doesn't even really get milk out so I never use it

well i have an appointment with wic tomorrow and was told that they can help supply the pump. they are so expensive. i was told wrong by my insurance on coverage otherwise i would have been saving up to buy one.

I would say yes just in case. Especially if you want to exclusively breastfeed. My son wouldn't latch so I would pump it to give it to him. However since I didn't have one, I had to supplement with formula right away until I got one. Totally up to you, but I'd say it would be handy to have it before hand. You just never know.
