First time my son has had formula and he spit out about 6 oz before finally eating 3 oz...must…

They should only be eating about half their body weight..

@twinmama_navywife, he's always are more then he is suppose too his doctor said its fine I mean he literally spit out 6 oz lol like when I was feeding him never swallowed any of it...and then took s break and he hate his usual 3 just fine...he actually eats 4 oz every 3-4 hours

Yeah usually you only want to give them around half their body weight because their stomachs are so small. The fact your giving him so much is probably why he spit it up

hun if he is spitting it out or fussing during feeding its possible he wasnt ready to eat yet.

@twinmama_navywife, not not spitting up...spitting out lol like he wasn't swallowing it just spitting it out lol he has only had breast milk till today and that was his first time with formula his doctor even warned me saying he is going to refuse it and to keep pushing it will get frustrating...breast milk is tastier then formula lol

@adaraa126, oh no he was hungry! Just like what I told navywife he was breast fed this was his first time with formula and he was just refusing it cuz it was new and different and he probably didn't like the taste!

Why did you stop breastfeeding?

My baby spits up formula a lot too. I think it has to do with him liking the taste of breast milk better honestly haha since I supplement with formula. There's a big difference from when he eats all breastmilk vs breastmilk with formula. Don't worry though, your little one will get used to it just give it time and use w formula that is super gentle on the tummy like enfamil gentlease

@miicat, I'm not completely stopping but I have had severe mastitis in both my breast and once I get off antibiotics it comes back...which its from me trying to get my supply back up cuz it dropped so my doctor recommended me trying to feed him formula for a few weeks and continue pumping and freezing and let my supply come naturally and then go back to it! So hopefully these next few weeks goes good for me so I can get back to it (:

@emkasting, that's the kind I got (: and thank you! I kinda figured that's what it was from cuz breast milk is sweeter tasting (I possibly tried it lol) and formula I didn't try it but it smelled funny I mean I'd spit it out too! And I'm not completely stopping just trying to build my supply up slowly but surely to keep my mastitis from coming back ☺️
