Because you're having contractions and it's not helping you dilate, induction is likely to fail and end you with a cesarean. I can almost guarantee that if you were dilated to at least 2, they would start induction

oh well that's why, they can't keep you if you aren't dilated. since you're due already I guess they just want to see how far you can go before they plan to induce you

my doctor didn't want me to be induced til 41 weeks so maybe that's why. if you can't handle the contractions, you should just go to L&D and let them check how dilated you are
