breastfeeding moms. I have a question. I didn't breastfeed at the hospital because I wasn't producing any milk and I also was on too many meds because of my csection. well today I work up with my breast rock hard my milk finally came in. I want to start but only thing is my incision hurts so I'm on pain meds. Dr prescribed me norco. is that safe to take while breastfeeding? I'm just scared that it will affect my son.

The pain meds unfortunately do go into your breastmilk. I would call your pediatrician and see what they say.

I'm pretty sure it is. I took myself off the norcos by day 3 pp but I had been pumping for my preemie and they were able to use the colostrum I expressed, so I think it's fine.

Definitely double check with your doctor or w lactation consultant though.

I'm in the exact same position as you. My milk only came in yesterday but My dr told me that it was okay. I think you should be okay

It's safe. My friend had a c section and they give her the same Meds and its perfectly fine to still breastfeed or else they wouldn't prescribe it's I was also given Tylenol 3

also I've been told that putting a pillow across ypur incision will help with the baby laying up against it.

the pillow thing helps like @wiccanmommy suggested. and it's okay to take the medicine and breastfeed. if your nervous just take the medicine after u feed or pump.

bf irritated my incision as well. football hold made it so much easier and a better experience for us both

I have a boppy pillow and just wrapped it around my belly and laid baby on top to nurse. I did that for about 2 weeks then stopped using a pillow. It was safe to bf while on the pain meds

thank you ladies for your advice. my dr. said I should be ok so I'm trying to breastfeed it's a Lil challenging but he's latching on just great. hope everyone's Lil ones are doing great ♡

Ps for my c section (my son is 7 weeks tomorrow) I used the football hold to nurse. I still do mostly because he likes to kick my incision now and it hurts

@dohmommy2016, that's exactly the position I'm using my son is 10lbs. 😣 he's heavy lol. so laying him on my stomach even with my boppy hurts. it helps a whole lot.

Oh wow! big boy! my son at 6.5 weeks was 9 pounds! and that is with him gaining 3 pounds since birth haha.
