I'm finally getting my SO his engagement ring for his late fathers day gift but idk his ring size lol How could I find out his ring size without killing the surprise!!! Help

I'd get a 10 1/2 or 11, that's the usual men's sizes. I asked my friend who works at kay:)
steal one of his rings if he wears any loll or when he sleeps measure it with piece thread
