How do I tell my MIL that we can't drive across the country with a newborn?

I'm feeling really anxious about it. I'll be recovering from delivery still and don't really want to be in a car for 20+ hours, let alone having baby girl in her car seat for that long and worrying about stopping to feed her. My OB said if I don't want to go, he will write me a note saying I am not allowed to travel out of state until after my 6 week follow up appointment.

We've tried telling my MIL over and over that it just wouldn't be best but she still thinks we are coming and basically won't take no for an answer.

Well she's just going to have to accept no as an answer.

Noooo way. I didn't even want to drive 3 hours away until my first was probably 5 months...

@olson0305, that's what I'm sayin! My husband's parents want us to go out to their lake house. I'll be bleeding and healing, I can't go tubing on the boat, I won't be allowed on the jet skis, I can't really do anything. I think it will be more fun for everyone if we go next summer, when baby girl is older..

My mother in law is the same way. She's expecting that as soon as we get discharged from the hospital were hoping on a plane and flying home. It's a 21 hour drive so I said no way. So she said we better be flying in then. 😒 I hope my OB writes me a note because I'm not going to want to travel home when I'm still recovering from birth.

@christimary0, you can ask for one! Honestly I've kind of been asking my OB about it for a while, since they've been talking about us coming basically since we told them we were pregnant. But it's not a good idea! You need rest and baby needs one on one time. I wish my MIL could understand where I'm coming from.. She's only had 1 child, and that was 20 years ago. My husband was adopted.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Will your Mom be in the delivery room?

Will your Mom be in the delivery room? My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. So I feel bad telling her no.

Is it rude to not want anyone at the hospital?

Is it rude to not want anyone at the hospital? I was just informed that my MIL wants to be waiting at the hospital so as soon as I pop out the baby she can rush in to be with the baby. I am really a private person and dont really want anyone at the hospital when I give birth (except my husband). I was planning on calling all the family to come to the hospital once I was all cleaned up and ready for visitors. Am I being rude? How do I tell them I dont want visitors a minute after pushing out a baby?! I would like some private time for just my husband & I!
