I wish some ladies would take Listeria more seriously. especially when they dont care what they are putting into their bodies during pregnancy. ny sister lost her baby from listeria. she got it from a subway sandwich and yes they tested the sandwich. all because she craved lunch meat and didnt heat it up.

it literally only takes one time to get it and the side effects are terrible. its present in a lot of different food.

yeah she only gave in to it one time and got a turkey foot long. an hour after she ate half of it she went to the er for vomiting non stop. she started bleeding and they said baby didnt make it. now it wasn't confirmed that the listeria caused the baby to pass but they did find listeria and her ob said its more than likely but cant be sure.

ladies always say they eat it and are fine, while yes most are, it still can happen to anyone at anytime. easy way to prevent is to avoid the foods altogether.

same goes with alcohol, why can't people wait the almost ten months before drinking again. wouldn't it be terrible if you had one glass and then lost your baby. .. it's not common but it can happen. it breaks my heart.

OMG I know!! I get so angry when ladies on here are posting about eating sandwiches from places such as subway and you can tell it's not a veggie one either. I'm just a paranoid freak and have been staying far away from all the stuff on the DONT eat list. It's only 9 months out of your life. The safest thing for baby is the best thing for baby!! And very sorry to hear about your sister that's so sad!

that's so great to hear you do!!! I cant even stress enough how important it is to take measures into making sure baby is safe. I crave lunch meat all the time but I dont eat it. my sister went through he** when she caught it from a turkey sandwich. that scared me enough to realize just how easily its caught and how most woman still eat cold lunch meat :(

im with ya, I can wait ten months :)

So sorry to hear that! I am super diligent about it! I have not had one bite of cold lunch meat. And I make sure my bacon is extra crispy. It's so easy to just follow the food and medication rules for 10 months and not risk anything.

Three day old sandwich! *Update*

Three day old sandwich! *Update* My ds daycare gave him a 3 day old sandwich! My DH accidentally left my son's lunchbox at school on Friday. On Monday, instead of giving him his new lunch, they gave him his lunch from Friday. A turkey and cheddar cheese sandwich! I'm so disgusted! I spoke to the director. I asked her why my 23 month old was handed that sandwich and who was supervising him that they didn't notice the cheese was hard and discolored. I also asked that they put any lunch boxes left at the end of the day into the child's cubby so this doesn't happen again. She said that her teachers did nothing wrong and she stands by them. She also said that would not put away any lunch boxes that are left. I'm furious and don't know who to contact to report this. Btw, my DH feels horrible and takes full responsibility for leaving the lunchbox. But I still want the daycare to acknowledge that there was an easy way to prevent this and they will correct it in the future.
