has anyone had a sweep? I have a choice to have one on Tuesday this is my 2nd child will it work? how painful is it?

because my induction day is 2nd July I'll be 39 weeks so they just said they can offer me one to help the process @abbylouise it makes sense coz some one can go 42 weeks with no complications so they'll get a sweep at 40 weeks where as I'm induced 39 weeks so a sweep 2 weeks before x

How come your offered a sweep before your due date? (If you don't mind my asking) My midwife said she'll only do one if I go over 😩 x

I wouldn't say it's painful but it is uncomfortable x

@leanne2016 I was 39+1 :) my waters had broken the previous day xx

I found it uncomfortable but not painful. It didn't work for me but it was my first baby and I ended up being induced. If I were to have another baby I would get one again incase it did help bring on labour @leanne2016 xx

It's hard to explain what it feels like. Whilst she was doing it, it felt like quite strong period pains. Each to their own though 😊 you go with what you feel comfortable doing xxx

I'm scared of pain @zoeelaw so I might not do it I'd rather wait till induction 2nd juky

She said it is common to bleed and have a bloody show for a couple of days afterwards. I've got another booked for Monday xxx

I had one on Monday. Unfortunately it hasn't worked 🙁 she said my cervix was short with it being my first baby so she tried her best. Wasn't that bad just bled quite a bit after so make sure you wear a pad xxx

@leanne2016 I was 1cm already...shot to 8cms within an hour xx

Worse than labour for me...but that's not everyone :) it may be less painful for you since you've had a child before :) not sure xxx
