I'm 30 weeks , & today at my appointment I asked my doctor if he could induce me at 38 weeks if he hasn't come by himself. & he told me he couldn't induce me unless there was a medical reason but we could talk about ways I could put myself into labor & he mentioned stripping my membranes , what exactly is that ? Does it hurt ? Lol cause that sounds very painful

Your doctor puts her/his finger into the cervix -- the mouth of the uterus -- and uses the finger to gently separate the bag of water from the side of the uterus near the cervix.

it's uncomfortable. I did it 4 times, 3 different kids. Never put me in labor

May I ask why you would want to be induced at 38 weeks?

With my first I had it done lost my mucous plug and started having contractions the next day and was in labor by that night. Wasn't painful for me. Everyone's different though.
