No one will ever convince me that spanking is a good method of discipline. It's child abuse and it doesn't help anything. My children have never been spanked or hit and they are respectful. Do they get time outs? Yes. They sit in a quiet room until they calm down and can talk about why they did what they did and what they can do differently next time. We always end with an I love you and a hug. Are they perfect children? No. But I don't expect perfection. I expect trying and learning. 💖

@babes101116, spanking is a touchy subject. I was a young mom. I spanked my first two children and not the next two. There are times when I'm like "spanking helped" and other times I'm like "maybe spanking wasn't the best". My younger two are motivated to change their behavior if they know you are disappointed in a specific behavior. My older two aren't phased my anything other than spankings. It's funny how kids can be so different from each other. I can say I'm not the mom who spanks daily but I feel I do it enough. They probably get spanked once a year.

@babes101116, and it's not considered child abuse in the state of Ohio. I don't know about other states but here it's not as long as it's on the bottom, controlled, and doesn't leave markings. My best friend works for Children Services.

@amandafikes, I'm not concerned about what the laws say in any state. It's just my personal opinion. I know everyone has their own view.

I agree.. I grew up with my father who would paddle us 😣 I hated it, and it did nothing. There's defiantly other ways to discipline.

@babes101116, gotcha. I thought you were saying legally it was child abuse. lol. Reading posts sometimes you take it wrong. I apologize. I know some kids are spanked ALL the time and that's the ones that get to me. A kid is going to be a kid and make mistakes. They need an opportunity to learn from their mistakes or they may never learn
