It's totally acceptable in my opinion. My s/o has more of a right to whoop my son than his own daddy. My s/o provides, loves, & cares for my son just like he was his own so it's fine with me

I agree. As long as mother is okay with step mother etc. my step mom should have beat my ass any times and she didn't marry my dad till I was 14. Lmao.

What a good way to let your child walk all over their step-parent.🙄 This "You're not my real mom/dad" thing is bs. Are they providing your food? A place for you to live? Then they have every right to discipline you. Smh.

@jjmom12345678, how'd that work out for you?

My ex step father used to beat me too. He would lie to my mom about things. There was a time we got smacked in the face for putting the sugar in the kool-aid before the water. That was not discipline, that was straight up abuse. But anyways, I'm not talking about abusive stepparents. But a man or woman who works hard to provide for you and love you and make sure you have what you need deserves that respect. As long as they're disciplining you the same way, the biological parents do, I don't see a problem with it at all. @taea98

It didn't work out very well cause when my step children came to our house they had rules and at their mothers they had nothing

How old were they? At my mom's, we had strict rules & at my dad's, it was super relaxed & we could (pretty much) do what we wanted. But we knew the boundaries. My mom even said "I can't punish you for what you do there but I can here. & if you do that here, you will be punished." And don't get me wrong my dad wouldn't let us do outrageous things. More like watch certain tv shows or play certain video games or curse, things my mother wouldn't approve of because of her religious beliefs. But we knew where to draw the line. @jjmom12345678

well its hard to say. I do as much as possible for my step daughter. her mother has no rules and teaches her nothing. obviously since she is an only child she gets away with not picking up for herself and things like that. but when I have my child there will be rules to follow because my child will have rules. if she follows them great if not than that's on her father. I think he can raise her how he feels. I will only suggest things or have input. I guess I follow the ' you reap what you sow. if she is an uncontrolable teen or irresponsible adult its not on me BC I more than likely suggested or had imput on things and if he doesn't want to listen, well whatever. but I will not deal with the consequences of your way of raising a child. if my child asks why his daughter doesn't have to follow my rules I will simply say that I am your parent, I know what is best for you your dad and I agree on the rules for you. and her mother and your father follow their own rules for her.

Paternity leave How much time did your S/O take off of work when you had a baby? Luckily I live in California so we have 6 weeks paid paternity leave (55%), but my S/O is getting s*** at work for taking 4 weeks. It's honestly infuriating that people are asking why he needs so much time off and "he's not going to be taking care of the baby the whole time". Umm it's called BONDING LEAVE. It's such bull s*** how people expect dad's to take way less time off as if it's not their kid too. Dad's deserve time off with their new babies too. Just had to rant about this ?

What age do you start front facing your child? Looking for personal opinions, I've done my research and personally believe it's best to keep my son rear facing for awhile longer. His legs aren't bent up or anything either. My bf and his mom tried to tell me I should have my son front facing, and it irritates me because it's my decision, and it's safer to keep him rear facing anyway.
