So, have any other moms had babies diagnosed with GERD at around a week or so old and had issues with their babies being unable to breathe during a reflux attack? Her pediatrician knows and we just had her in the hospital over night because she was unable to breathe for around 20 to 30 seconds. Typically I'm able to suction the stomach acid out but this time there was very little so I'm curious if there's another issue going on. Obviously we're taking her in to see her pediatrician today, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well.

@rylannsmommy33016, Yeah, the Gerber Extensive HA is a predigested hypoallergenic formula with probiotics. It does seem to help a little more than the other ones we've tried. I'm definitely gonna try adding in a little bit of rice cereal to see if it works. I've seen those socks! Owlets is one brand. I saw another type that was more reasonably priced. I'd much rather have one prescribed so I don't drop $250-$500 on something that may hardly work in comparison to one that's actually medical and that I won't need after 6 months to a year or so. Of course, if I can't get one prescribed then I may just have to buy one. I have Amelia in a rock and play. It's elevated and even vibrates which seems to help break up the gas bubbles. She does like her swing but not as much as the rock and play.

@rylannsmommy33016, Sorry. Still trying to figure this app out. We saw a doctor today. Her pediatrician was out of town though, but this doctor did recommend trying 1/4 teaspoon of rice cereal per ounce of formula to see if that helps with the reflux. She said an amount that small shouldn't cause any other issues with her bowels. She's on Prilosec, but apparently all that does is just make the acid less acidic. I had a friend suggest asking about getting a pulse oximeter prescribed so that if she does stop breathing at night, I will be alerted. I discussed it with this doctor but she isn't a pediatrician so she doesn't know a whole lot about how to get one for an infant, however she did leave a note for the ped. to look into it. We go back Monday so I'm just hoping that things will be a little okay until then. I have use her thermometer to stimulate her to poop after she went about 4 days without going. Her stool is soft like it should be so the doctor isn't terribly concerned about that. But it's awesome to know that she isn't the only baby going through this. I just hate seeing her so miserable. Most nights are spent with me awake and just holding her on my chest so she can sleep without pain. Otherwise, even elevated, she fusses and groans and strains and is just in so much pain. :/

Has it gotten any better at all? I have my daughter on Gerber Extensive HA and since I also breastfeed, I'm on an extremely bland diet. She also is exceptionally gassy, even with gas drops. I'm terrified it will happen at night while I'm asleep. :(
