First night home and her second day of life with us: painful blister on left nipple and she just can't seem to latch well on my right. I did not expect this to hurt so much but I LOVE having her so close to me still... 😩
@kissesz30, yay congrats! Well as you can see it's possible! You got this!
That's great!! Mine still doesn't open wide enough but I guess they toughened up a bit because it doesn't hurt as bad now, just when she first latches on.
That's great! I just had my baby girl yesterday and my struggle has begun! @mamamoonbaby
@kissesz30, @bianca_rose thank you! I went back to the hospital and the lac consultant gave me one and it's helping tremendously. She's gotten the left nip down pack so when the right heals we should be okay. I just have to really encourage her to open wide or wait til she cries a bit you know? But we're doing it!
Yes it was a life/nipple saver lol my baby has a shallow latch so she's latching just to the nipple and not the whole areola, so painful, the right one ended up cracked. With the shield you can put coco oil or lanolin on them and let them heal while still nursing. The hospital gave me one but I've seen them in target/Walmart also
If you're still at the hospital you can ask for one there. If not, babiesrus, toysrus, Walmart any of those stores in the breastfeeding section.
The nipple shield will definitely help with the pain and help her learn to latch better. I had to use one with my son and I already got one just in case for this time around because that pain is no joke. @mamamoonbaby
I'll have to get some. I'm using coconut oil. I cave in and gave her a pacifier so I can have a break. I'm actually in tears from the pain!
@bianca_rose, thank you!! I think that's also what's happening with my left lol. It still hurts but I'm getting used to it. Worth it!
