yesterday I was planning on just doing exclusive breast feeding because the formula upsets my baby's stomach. I pumped both boobs, and when I got done obviously there was nothing left... luckily I have sensitive formula which helps him. however it stayed that way the whole day! I made sure to drink as much water as I could and ate protein... but it's still as empty as can be.. my mil suggested on keep pumping... has someone done that and it helped?? or if you have other ways that helped please let me know I just don't have money to go buy stuff...

Your OB can prescribe you these pills that make your milk come in. When my kids were in NICU I had to take the pills for two days and then I was producing enough I actually donated a bunch of milk along with strictly breastfeeding. Ask your doc about them. Otherwise they make fenugreek supplements which are supposed to help, and pumping while in the bath (for the warmth to help with let down). If you just pump to bring in your milk it is very possible, but you'll want to do it more often than your baby eats at first to bring on the supply. Best of luck!!

@forever223, thank you! you're a life saver. I don't have my next appointment for a few more weeks though. how could I get it beforehand?

Just give them a call and tell them you're losing your milk and nothing else is working, so you wanted to ask about being prescribed reglan (I believe that's what the prescription was for you may need to ask for sure). They shouldn't give you any issues!

Just a little warning: if you take the pills take a very small dose to see how you handle them first. They work like magic, but for the two days I was on them I felt very sleepy and sort of depressed. A small sacrifice in my opinion, but I wish someone would've warned me that they might do that, so to build up to the recommended dose, because I thought I was going crazy lol.

@forever223, is it the fenugreek?

No the fenugreek you can just buy at a grocery store. Fenugreek is just like an herbal supplement to support the production of breast milk. It doesn't work like the reglan. Just for comparison sake with working out fenugreek is equal to a protein powder where as reglan is equal to a steroid lol. I use fenugreek daily to help produce enough to nurse my newborn, and pump an 8oz bottle for my 1yo every three or so hours, but to get my milk to come I had to take the reglan for two days since I was unable to nurse my newborn while he was in NICU (the pumping and fenugreek wasn't enough to get my milk to come in completely, and I was getting impatient.
