Breastfeeding Mama's: When your baby nurses do you give them both boobs or just one? my little girl falls asleep when nursing on one and my sister told me I'm supposed to wake her up and have her nurse on the other boob too because "she's not getting enough milk". but she's never breast feed so i don't really pay attention to her when she trys to give me advice on breastfeeding.
Just keep track of which one and alternate each feeding. I used to make logs with time of feeding L or R and the amount of minutes nursed that helped me keep track
Your supposed to try to but when I breastfed my son he had a "favorite side" as my lactation consultant called it and he would only nurse on my right and rarely on the left so I just pumped the left and gave it to him in a bottle so he ate enough. You could try that, pumping the other side that she didn't feed on.
I've breastfed for 8 months now and she's only ever eaten from both when she was a month old. Ever since then she's been preferential on which side she wants. They told me nurse for 15-20 minutes on each side but she would never want to eat for that long or from both. I just went with what my girl wanted...now I have one ginormous boob and one saggy boob from that decision (both still produce) 😂
With my first I only nursed on 1 side, I'd just remember which one to do the next feed. But I had a really good supply then. I have low supply this time because of breast reduction I had so I nurse on both sides in one feed now
