This rape case from California has brought up so many interesting problems /questions for society. First off the young man was very very much wrong to ever touch that woman and should be punished for what he did without a doubt. However, society and colleges as a whole should take a look at the current environment in which young people are encourage or allowed to get black out drunk and put themselves in the position where things like this case could happen. I wish common sence reigned amoung the young people. If you put yourself in a position to be harmed don't be surprised if you get harmed.

She may not have had the intention of doing that but she did do that. As far as I know you can't tell when you have had too much to drink and everyone knows when they start to get to the point they can't hold their liquor they should stop. Not to mention where was her sister during all of this? Normally sisters watch out for each other was her sister passed out drunk as well? @rachel8792

You should read her story, she said it herself in her statement, she did drink, but she didnt realize she wouldnt be able to hold her liquor since she has had more in the past, and never blacked out. She didnt realize she couldnt hold her liquor the same, she also went with her freshman sister, so the intentions of getting blackout drunk werent there. I dont think she put herself in that situation in anyway. If people will drink they will drink. She has had more in the past so she had no way of knowing she would get "blackout drunk"

I said the exact things @babydiehl2016 said. You out yourself in a dangerous position you are partly responsible. It's never okay to rape anyone but it's also never okay to put yourself in a position where rape is easy. @joceyyyy

See, it's common sense like that. Seriously know your limits and know not to get blackout drunk. I mean is it really that hard to learn? Obviously you learned it. I'm just I guess dumb founded at women who think that kind of behavior won't lead to bad things happening. @babydiehl2016

See now that s what I'm talking about teach them to be careful and diligent. If they are watchful that's one thing but doing something like what she did knowing where she was is just dangerous and everyone knows it. I think there is a huge difference between being drugged and willfully "drink yourself into passing out". I'm so glad I'm not the only one who see this. @babydiehl2016

Haha your part of the rape culture telling women do what ever and don't worry if you out yourself in harms way because nothing you do should ever be held repsinsible because obviously a woman is never wrong. Victims shouldn't be afraid to come forward, but victims also shouldn't put themselves in obviously horrible positions. @sassymom619

lmao. this is the type of victim blaming that promote rape culture. instead of promoting "don't rape" we say "do everything not to get raped". I was drugged at a party when I was in college , am I somehow to blame??? this is exactly why victims are afraid to come forward because we're asked what could WE have done to prevent it. so sad these words are coming from a woman.

That is an ignorant statement. If you get butt backed and blackout drunk you have zero resort to stand on with how you have been wronged because you couldn't use common sense on not putting yourself in danger. @sassymom619

I'm not being rude. I'm being truthful. You're ignorant. The girl is not responsible for not getting raped. the man is responsible for not raping. idgaf if she was butt naked and black out drunk.

I completely agree, all boys should be taught to be respectful and if they ever harm a woman they should get their junk cut off in my opinion. I would say that to my son and I plan on saying that to my son, but there should also be an equal amount of teaching for girls and about how they should also be partially responsible for their safety as well. The dad was a sick man and his statement made me angry, but so many parents think like that and so many young people think like that too. @mazeyy09

In my opinion getting back out drunk IS a compromising position you have zero control of your body you have zero control of the things going on and you have zero ability to fight back. That is a compromising position. @sassymom619

Absolutely. I will teach my son he is not entitled to a women's body no matter what mental or physical state she is in. Victim blaming is so ignorant. like I'm literally shaking as I write this @mazeyy09

I agree being drunk shouldn't be asking for rape but in all honesty it is asking for it one so college campus filled with other drunk and high young men if you know what i mean? No one should ever have to endure rape, trust me I know, I went through it myself, but at the same time no women should ever out herself in the obvious position of harm. She as a student has heard stories I can promise you of other girls who got black out drunk and we're raped it happens all the time. So I don't understand how or why someone would willingly put themselves in that kind of position of danger. @mazeyy09

How I see it is teach your sons not to be idiots and to respectfully give women space. Idk if you read what his dad said in defense of him but it starts at home @sassymom619

THANK YOU!!! @mazeyy09 in my opinion there's no such thing as a "compromising position". DON'T RAPE. It's as simple as that. whether she's drugged out , black out drunk , sleep or whatever .

I kind of understand what your saying but the issue that I have is that people victim blame no matter what the circumstance. If that was me I wouldn't want anyone pointing the finger at me after everything I endured. That's why a lot of women don't come forward when they're rsped because it will get turned around. Being drunk is not asking to be raped.

You get so drunk you pass out and can't defend yourself you are partially responsible. A man sees a drunk passed out woman should control himself and never touch her but obviously some men are complete idiots and the rape women. Should a man ever rape a woman? NO I have already said that BUT A WOMAN SHOULD NEVER PUT HERSELF INA COMPROMISING POSISITOK LIKE THAT!

Rape Victims can't stop rape. Rapists just need to not rape. The victim is never asking for it. Drunk, sober , fully clothed or dressed raunchy. and as a rape victim I'm truly disgusted by the statements you've made.

I'm not saying she couldn't have drank but I mean come on she got blackout drunk at a party full of other drunk and high men and women. It was a dangerous situation which she could have been smarter in. He should have never touched her but she also should have been guarding herself at the same time. @mazeyy09

.... You seriously aren't reading what I'm saying. I said the guy was wrong he should never have touched her. I'm not saying the guy was some how justified because she was drunk. I am saying she should have NEVER put herself in that position. She should have used her BRAIN and not gotten so drunk she passed out at a party filled with other drunk young people who became idiots when drunk. Yes, if my daughter put herself in a position where she passed out drunk at a party where she knew better and knew the dangers of doing something like that I would tell her she out herself in a dangerous position and although getting raped is wrong she knew better and she could have stopped it had she not got so dang drunk she passed out. @sassymom619

no. the guy shouldn't have raped her regardless of her mental and physical state . I know guys who have been around black out drunk women and they can control their dick. this statement is ignorant. if you had a daughter in the same situation would you tell her "you're partially to blame because you drank a little bit too much" ???

I didn't victim blame I said the man was wrong clearly and he should be punished HOWEVER a woman shouldn't get blackout drunk and out herself into a position like that. She should have realized she was waaay drunk and got out of there because junk like this happens when you get black out drunk. I think some of the problem with this does lie with both parties in the fact she put herself in harms way knowing better. @sassymom619

wow are you seriously victim blaming? I'm so surprised to hear this from a woman. I don't care if she was black out pissy drunk NOONE DESERVES TO GET RAPED.no matter how reckless their actions maybe.
