if you are having a c-section, do they still give you an epidural? I'm new to this and getting nervous lol
I had to get a spinal block with my first csection and I'll be getting a spinal with this one as well.
I had an epidural, tried vaginal birth knowing there was a 99% chance it wouldn't happen, I begged for csection after 16 hours and they gave me something to completely numb me from mid chest down (don't remember what it was due to being in so much pain and being on enough pain meds to take down an elephant) plus my epidural through it
mine was an emergency c section, at least you're more mentally prepared than I was!
mine didn't! I didn't even know he started it and then he was laying me down. My fiance said they were putting ice packs on my legs to make sure I was numb, I didn't even feel it!
You get a spinal block :) at least that's how mine was, I'm not sure how they do it if you've already gotten an epidural from trying to push and then had to have a c section. I would imagine it's the same. They give you a numbing shot that just pinches for a second and then they do the block, I didn't even feel mine! The anesthesiologist had to help me lay down because it kicks in within 15 seconds
it didn't hurt me but of course you can't move. my son decided to stretch all in my ribs. that was the only thing to hurt me. lol
