ahhh I'm hoping I haven't got it but whatever the results I'll deal with it best I can as long as baby is ok, glad it's quite common to be tested though, thanks ladies xx

@beckie88 I never did the GTT and my BMI was 34.7 :) My midwife took my bloods every two weeks and checked my blood sugars like that :) @natroberts88 Not everyone has to get it...only if you have high BMI and family history of diabetes :) xx

I had 2. One at 12 weeks and one at 25 weeks. My bmi is high which is why I had to have it. It's just precaution. But even when you get further along and see the midwife more when she takes a urine sample off you she dips it. Testing for protein and sugars in the urine. Xx

I have to have it because my mum, dad and sister are all diabetic, I'm not worrying about it because I'm normally healthy and have been tested before and it came back fine :)

I know how you feel, my last appointment they told me I had lost weight since the previous. my bmi is over 25 I think if I remember rightly but I don't like how they just assume, we could be fine! baby's dad is 6ft5 and 16 stone of muscle so I'm really hoping I don't have a big baby already lol x

It depends on your BMI, sure if it's over 25 you have to have it! Winds me up because they think I'm going to be diabetic and have a massive baby because I'm fat, yet everyone keeps saying I've lost weight 🙈 @deedee1988 x

my letter states that I have a slight risk and that's why they want it done @firsttimemummy21 , it doesn't harm the baby if it is positive does it ladies? and any idea what the treatment etc would be xx

It's a blood test that you normally have done at around 28 weeks. You have a fasting blood test, then drink some lucozade and then wait two hours and have another test. It's just a check for gestational diabetes :) xx
