Does getting your cervix checked hurt? I'm going to start getting checked for dilation and thinning Friday.

40weeks but they also stretched me from 1cm to 2cm at 38 weeks and sometimes when they stripe your membranes it can start contractions :)

Just think of it as something that will help you go into labor! Because when they touch things up in there they also make things progress a little bit, on my last check I got a bloody show and by midnight was in full blown labor

Their hand doesn't go in, just their fingers. Also, getting checked isn't necessary and can be declined if you choose.

Pretty much put their hand up and use their fingers to tell how far you are dilated. If they can get one finger in your cervix, you're about a cm. That's how mine checked at least.

It's more uncomfortable than painful, but it all depends on the woman as well. Afterwards, there was painful cramps and a little spotting for me though.
