What kind of wife and mother am I that I don't even trust my own husband with our son? I trust his mom even less. And…

What kind of wife and mother am I that I don't even trust my own husband with our son? I trust his mom even less. And then when he finally tells me to tell him what's on my mind, we get in a fight because I trust my mom but not his. Because there's a language barrier so it's hard to tell her when I disagree or when she does something that worries me. Because yes I know she raised three kids, but that was down in Mexico and she doesn't even remember how to change a diaper. Because she co slept with all three kids and puts our son on fluffy blankets in his bassinet and then covers him with more when it's already 78 degrees in the room.

And I don't trust him because he is now taking our son in bed with him after his mom did so and he slept well. My husband falls asleep in seconds and can be hard to wake up. And yet he gets mad at me for voicing my concerns after he asked what was wrong. Plus I have a history of major depression. I'm fucking terrified. I'm upstairs freaking out right now cause I just need to cry but he's downstairs sleeping on our bed with our son in the bed next to him. Our 12 day old son. What scares me even more is that we have animals that like to cuddle. A cat and a dog. What happens if they hop on the bed and hubby is sleeping and doesn't wake up? I'm terrified. But now I feel like I can't tell him because I don't want to get into another argument. I don't even feel like I can call my mom right now in case he wakes up and notices I'm not in the room and comes looking for me. I just... I can't do this.

you're not alone I have a language barrier too with my mil n recently have had problems bc of it. but things were figured out. i know you don't want to get into another argument with your SO but definitely tell him how you feel. i didn't read anything else but I'm assuming you're a FTM so you're super protective. and that's your right! I am too. I'd rather fight with my boyfriend thn just be so upset and uncomfortable bc I'm just allowing him to do what he thinks is right for our son

I don't want to be in disagreement, but I think your having a huge cultural difference. Cosleeping is done worldwide in most countries to this day, and is an age old practice. if you worry, I suggest 1, getting rid of all fluffy blankets that are used for him, get him fluffy cosleepers instead. then, go buy one of those LulyBoo Lounge to go things or something like it to put on the bed. insist he sleep in that if he is going to be on the bed or nor in the crib anywhere. that way, it is a compromise, but you are setting the environment. Second idea is to get wraps and start wearing baby as much as you can get away with. this way you don't really have to worry about who has the baby or where he is sleeping during the day. the grandma worried the babies are cold is an old people thing. they were told in their day that babies get cold easy because they are small, but we now know you need a fan on circulating air and that baby can wear short sleeves if you are wearing them. times change. but there are ways to solve this, don't despair!

@tahtahme, we have a co sleeper bassinet. That was our compromised. We had made an agreement before I gave birth that we wouldn't co sleep. The cosleeping worries me because of how much I move I my sleep and how heavy of a sleeper he is. He sleeps right through our son screaming.

as a reasonable adult he should kinda understand the cons to co-sleeping after you've explained it to him and I'm sure you have. maybe he can explain to his mom your wishes and how you don't feel comfortable with all those damn blankets. I'm sure it's easier said than done but it's pretty important to not co-sleep if you know how you and your husband sleep. and your mil should let you raise your baby how you want it's your basic human right as his mother
