I always thought it was no big deal and that it was harmless but I spent some time ln the nicu with my son because he was born early and there was a baby there because his mother smoked pot during her pregnancy. I'm not sure what exactly went wrong since they aren't allowed to tell you anything about other babies I just over heard two of the nurses talking about it x:

I've heard a lot of midwives will prescribe it for morning sickness and stuff but I don't know what happens to those babies. I quit smoking long before I got pregnant luckily. I would maybe tell your OB just so they can check and make sure everything's okay with the baby. I'm overly paranoid though. I didn't even want to do my glucose test because I've read things about the effect it might have on the baby lol

ive known a friend whos smoked all the way up until she was 8 months

had a perfect healthy baby girl. also my sister smoked alot when she was prego and my neice turned out fine. i dont because i quit cold turkey 4 months before i got prego and had terrible anxiety and withdrawals from it. i honestly dont think it will harm the baby BUT it can cause them to have asthma

yeah thats the only thing i can really see happening @jennamarie100814 . i personally believe that weed is actually good for the body and mind. it took away all my back pains i focused alot more on it and it helps u eat if u have a eating disorder.

There's been absolutely zero studies done on pregnant women and how it effects a growing baby.. Thc is what gets you high, and makes baby high... It's the cannabinoids that help with morning sickness and stuff like that.. I smoked weed daily for the last 8 years and quit as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Not only did I not wanna risk anything developmental with my baby, but your doctors drug test you at your prenatal visits. Atleast mine do... And they also drug test the baby's cord blood when you deliver. And it takes longer for it to leave the baby's blood than ours. Simply was a risk I was willing to quit for. Now at almost 8 months without it, I don't need or want it. Being Florida hasn't made anything legal, I don't wanna risk getting in trouble with it now that I have a baby.

I'm not going to lie, I use still sometimes. I personally don't believe it has MAJOR affects on the baby, just making them underweight and possibly lung problems. There's a thing I heard that the THC doesn't pass through to the baby because the placenta blocks out that affect, unlike any other drug, which most are man made so of course they'd be different. Although there is a chemical that does pass, and that chemical is actually being made by the body already, marijuana just increases it I believe. My whole family pretty much smoked while pregnant and all babies including myself and other older siblings I have are perfectly fine, as well as the younger siblings involved. I don't believe there's anything to worry about too much. It was also used to help prevent miscarriages and decrease the intensity of labor, I'm sure they don't "prescribe" that anymore, but that's the medicine used in the olden days for things like that, as well as nausea and low appetite. I'm not an expert, this is just my thoughts and thing's I've learned. If you are using you'd probably want to stop prior to 20 weeks because the cord can hold it for that long.

and there is research that's been done just not much due to the women being too scared to admit they use. You just have to look into it.

This girl I know from high school , as we speak, is 28 weeks along with her first and she has been smoking pot the entire time. The baby is measuring small & has an issue with one of its lungs, and they are blaming it on the smoking. She won't stop smoking though! She keeps posting status' on Facebook about how she will continue to smoke because she doesn't believe that it's the cause. But, she just posted tonight that the doctors are admitting her to stay because the size of the baby is super worrisome.

I've heard good stories and bad stories... but I would worry about having it in my system when doctors appt come up and time to deliver.

i domt think there's bad effects smoking while pregnant but if you fail the drug test during delivery the hospital may call cps

I did till I found out I was pregnant and stopped completely. One of my friends did during her last pregnancy and her daughter has developmental delays so I'm not chancing anything. I have a bad back and migraines but have been sucking it up because I don't wanna take anything even aspirin. I would feel horrible if something happened that was preventable so I try to do everything right.

my cousin had an underweight baby & my mothers recent baby was in the hospital for 2 months couldn't breath on its own. my mom didnt take care of herself & she smoked a lot of wax & blunts. i quit as soon as i found out i was pregnant at about 4 weeks

I heard of a girl that smoked while she was pregnant and when they drug test u and if they find anything .... They took her baby away :/ dunno if it's fully true or not but it could be . But, also my brothers ex was pregnant with my niece and she smoked and my niece came out perfectly healthy ,,... I guess it's all up to the person . I think some doctors see it ok while others don't ...
