breast feeding moms: dr wants my baby girl to feed 2-3 hrs and she's eating well now but she has several watery diarrhea diapers after. it's not excessive but in small amounts. her bottom is a little red and we are putting cream on her bottom. is this normal with the diarrhea or will it change or is something going on?
ok, good. I hope your little one's hiney feels better. When my babies had diaper rash I used desitin (don't think I spelled that correctly, oops) and I gobbed it on and that seemed to get rid of the redness pretty quickly.
@maybaby2016, yeah we called and they told us it's normal and to air her bottom out and put diaper cream and told us the things to looks for that are of concern and to come in.
have you talked to your pediatrician? what you are describing sounds normal to me but I'm not there to see and I'm no doctor, I would just give them a call to be sure.
@maybaby2016, she just had like tan bm but with some consistency small amount?.. she was 2 weeks early. idk if that has anything to do with it
@steph11, she might have 2 diapers after she eats but it's very small amount in there @chunkymonkey9115 ok I'll do that
I would use wet papers towels or something like that baby wipes have also and stuff that can bug the baby's bottom when they have runny stools
yeah breastfed babies have yellow seedy loose stools for a very long time.
sounds normal to me. breastfed babies poop is usually very runny. my 1 year Olds still is. and color varies. Oh and I finally learned how to tell if a breastfed baby has diarrhea, it's not about consistency it's how many times in a certain amount of time
@kasynsmommy2016, I'd suggest slowly weaning things out of your diet to see if it's something you're eating. Otherwise, (s)he could be getting sick, or (s)he could be lactose intolerant or allergic to something within your breast milk. I've never personally experienced it but apparently there's cases of it happening.
I'd suggest removing dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc) from your diet for a few days to see if it helps. If not, continue with your dairy products and exclude a different daily intake item.
It could be something you're eating and passing through your breast milk. My LO got a horrible bottom rash, diarrhea, and became very fussy whenever I had dairy. No dairy in my diet until she became accustomed to it and her stools became the normal mustard/orange color again.
@maybaby2016, thank you..we got some desitin so hopefully it goes away fast
