So I have a question. Yesterday my sis had a cook out n I had half a beer. So today I'm pumping; should I throw the milk away I pumped ?
I was told you can have a drink or two and still feed the baby 2 hours later. so memorial day weekend I nursed my son and put him down for a nap then had one mixed drink and then just waited 2 hours or more before feeding him again
I've done enough research on this to write a damn book lol, the only reason you'd need to pump and dump is for comfort; engorgment while waiting for it to be out of your milk. Pumping and dumping doesn't get the alcohol out of your milk. Also it takes around to 2-3 beers to get into your milk. People look at me crazy when I drink a beer or wine and feed my baby, but it doesn't immediately enter your milk. After 2 hours after drinking (if drinking more than a few drinks) is when there is the most alcohol in your milk. It's closest compared to your blood alcohol levels. Some of the test strips are rip offs, I've tried a few of them for my own research benefits and some were a huge waste of money. Now I only use them if I've drank liquor.
They have test strips to test your milk, I'm definitely getting some so Mommy can enjoy a glass of wine or beer:)
@arivera64, okay, thank u .. Honestly I don't think it was even half a beer.
safe to drive, safe to feed! The need to pump and dump is if you are really trashed
Half a beer is probably nothing but I would pump and dump the first round just to be on the safe side. I've had old women tell me beer boosts breast milk supply and to drink one per day but I just couldn't, it doesn't seem safe to me! All these old wives tales are crazy sometimes lololol
There are tester strips you can buy that you can use to test your milk to be sure it's safe for baby after drinking. I always pumped and dumped once and the second time tested with the strips to be sure.
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Ladies I called my insurance about breast pump and they said with their insurance in order to get a pump I get a prescription from doctor then I call 3 different numbers to see what my insurance covers but the only thing is I have to wait til baby is born to call and get pump so I want to at least buy a hand pump which do you ladies recommend for hand pump and when I can get a pump from insurance please n thank you 💖💖
my free breast pump is on its way I'm so excited .. so glad that I didn't have to pay so much money for a breast pump
Breastfeeding moms: so I am planning on going on a 3 day vacation with my hubby & a bunch of friends to Catalina in May, (my baby won't be going with us) and I do not wanna be pumping and dumping every 2 hours out there.. so if I don't pump or breastfeed for 3-4 days, will my milk supply drop significantly? 😩😩 & I don't know how I'm gonna deal with the engorgement pain if I can't find time to pump out there.
@tiffanigypsy8, thank u so much!!!!
