my mother irritates me so bad....okay trying to get my daughter to use a sippy cup. that way since she will be almost a year old when Asher is born she will not feel as much of a need to want a bottle like her bubba. well She picked up on it faster than we thought she would and couldn't be more proud of herself. so I posted a picture of it on Facebook and sent it to my mom. she said to stop it's too early for me to be giving her a sippy cup. I told her that it's gonna happen one way or another unless she wants to give us $200+ for bottles (MAM are 2 for $11 something after tax) So she then replies that she knows it's gonna happen but that doesn't mean she has to like it or go by it while my daughter is with her. seriously? it's not that big of a deal. she will still get her bottles for her formula. but I'm just trying to introduce her to her sippy. what irritates me is she will go behind my back like that to make sure that my daughter 'stays the baby'. like I'm half tempted to just tell her she can go screw herself and if she can't go by my decisions for my child(ren) then she doesn't have to see them. I'm really tired of my family undermining my decisions. like how I wanted to wait until she was 6 months to introduce solids. they were feeding her mashed potatoes and gravy and freaking pie, yes pie! behind my back at like 4 months old.

you would say the same to me or to my mother? @keepingupwithhenry

you're right in feeling that way! Hubby and I adopted a no bull-crap policy immediately after we found out we were pregnant - I'm always open to feedback but I will only listen to so much opinion; If I have decided something for my kid, then I have put research into my reason. All my family knows that they don't have to be a common visit if they are going to be silly over something I've put in place. Stick to your guns girl!

My MIL said/did the same thing. She gave my daughter a bottle after I had her weaned off and she was over 1 y/o

my mother thinks I am completely incompetent when it comes to my daughter. I have no clue why. of course it's always the 'well I done it like that with you' excuse. I can't stand that. I mean what if my daughter had been allergic to something they gave her? and as for the sippy cup I'm going to have my son before my daughter turns one so I have to do something to make it easier on me without having to buy more bottles. those MAM bottles aren't cheap and if he doesn't take them and he takes a cheaper bottle so be it that's awesome. but I'm making it to where it will be easier on me. just the way she said she didn't have to like it really got on my nerves. like well I don't like that you have a brother on the way (which has been said plenty of times also) or how she says it's too soon that she needs to be the baby for a while. I'm like really, just say it one more time please so I can go tf off. please woman. sorry for the rant you guys. @cward1996 @eiliahelocin @laurenjanelle it's just plain disrespectful.

it definitely is disrespectful - I've had to shut down my mom and grandmother (especially) a few time myself. My grandmother likes to tell me how I should be doing things based on what she did with my dad in the 60's. I immediately shut her down - so much about having a kid then is different now. Mom's have more choice. Maybe you can shut her down with a "things are different now" argument? Or the "it's my kid and my choice" stance works for me a lot. Sometimes the other person needs a timeout - if my disagreements get really heated then I tell them that when they have re-evaluated their opinion or how they express it, I'll be here; & not to talk to me until then lol

@eiliahelocin, unfortunately that doesn't work with her. she's my only option for someone to watch her while I'm in the hospital having my son and she says while she's with her she will do as she pleases. like the other day, she tried helping me put her down for a nap and I tried telling her how I do it, what I know works, she got mad and handed her back to me and says I raised 3 kids I know what the hell I'm doing so do it yourself. and telling her things have changed doesn't help either she replies with how much can changing diapers, feeding a baby, and putting them to sleep change. I'm like here we go again. @cward1996 exactly. I'm not going to do to my daughter what she done to me. from age six on for me my mom worked all the time hardly was home so guess who raised my brothers? I done everything and she's like oh no you're gonna make her a second mama. I'm like no I will not be like you. she's really getting on my nerves so bad. I'm literally almost in tears from arguing with her because I'm so frustrated and trying not to go off on her.
