**No rude remarks please**

My son will be three weeks this Thursday. The past four nights or so he has been sleeping straight through the night. He eats about 6 ounces at a time now. his sleep patterns vary but he's been sleeping 6-8 hours at a time at night but during the day he will wake anywhere from every 3-5 hours to eat. Last night he slept for 8hours. my mom keeps saying that i am letting him get dehydrated, she's so rude to me about it and it makes me feel awful like I'm hurting my son. I'm already fighting sadness and feeling depressed and it just doesn't help at all. I would like to know of any other moms experience.

@mamabearto2cubs, i still can't believe how hungry he is. before i left the hospital told me to feed him 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours but once i saw the pediatrician they told me different. and ever since then he seems to sleep better, and seems more satisfied also. thank yo for your experience though! i will still continue to watch for spitting up.:)

@temp yeah, as long as your pediatrician is ok with it then I wouldn't worry (: especially if he's not spitting up. My nephew was a little piggy but would spit up a lot sometimes. their pediatrician was ok with the amount but the hospital wasn't.

he does eat a lot most of the time he will eat 6oz at one time, sometimes (but not very often anymore) he will eat 4-5oz and then wake up an hour to two hours later and will eat 2-3 more ounces. i had talked to the pediatrician about it because i couldn't believe he would still be hungry and was concerned. but she told me as long as he's not spitting up and feeding him is satisfying him to go ahead and feed him more when or if he seems hungry. @mamabearto2cubs

they suggested waking him up to feed more often instead of a lot at once.

I'd be careful about feeding him that much at one time. My nephew was a big boy and wanted to eat 5 to 6 Oz at a feeding and the Er tried to turn them in for overfeeding. definitely watch for spitting up, that's a sign of over feeding.

thank you @sofiaismyworld, his diapers have been the same! his pediatrician is very happy with his weight gain and says he is perfectly healthy when we went last Thursday.

See that's great! you're doing a terrific job, just ignore any negativity. Someone will always try to bring you down and tell you what you're doing wrong. But you're doing it right ,so forget them! & im glad you reached out for help bc of how you feel, most dont and it can get bad. Good luck mama!! @temp

thank you ladies, i have talked to my doctor about my feelings and they are working with me i go back next week. his amount of wet diapers hasn't changed, no sunken soft spot or dry mouth. he is also above his birth weight, weighs 9lbs 7oz when we went last Thursday. He's also eating good just eating more at a time. his pediatrician told me that he's a big boy and that if he seems hungry to try to feed him more and that he's gaining weight like a champ. just as long as he's not spitting up, but thank you ladies! @vb95 @littlemissrainesmommy @mommy.to.be.041016 @kbrown91

My daughter did the same thing and Drs said she was fine. Count diapers to make sure tho!

as long as he's back at or above birth weight you can let him sleep through the night.

Just wake him up and feed him, he should be eating at least every 3 hours, and about 3 oz. But your mom shouldn't be so hard on you. you have to learn as you go hun. don't worry & you can always question your pedi!! but if you're sad n feeling down talk to your OB bc PPD is very common and very hard to overcome alone. @temp

my son sleeps throughout the night im sorry but I look at it like this if your child is sleeping their obviously not hungry so let them sleep and when they wake up then feed them. I do my son like that I mean I'll sometimes wake him up to change his diaper but that's about it considering he will fall back asleep after I wake him

When they're that little it is very easy for them to get dehydrated. That's why they recommend waking up to feed during the night. However, if his soft spot isn't sunken in, his mouth is moist, and he has a good amount of wet diapers I wouldn't be too concerned about him sleeping through the night! Also if he's gaining a good amount of weight, I don't see what the issue would be
