okay so i was just reading a breast feeding magazine and it states that breast milk lacks vitamin D,so much so that you should give your baby vitamin D supplements! Im just trying to figure out why no one in my lactaction or parenting classes mentioned this...not even his doctor!
my pediatrician gave us a script for the drops at our very first appt and I had no idea that breast milk lacked it so it was news to me. but my son likes the taste so its easy to give to him
@aurielshantel, no problem. It gives more the reason why doctors are suggesting it. But I agree with @kimberkatherine that our bodies will give what baby needs.
I just believe our bodies have a way of knowing exactly what needs our babies have and producing just that. Babies wouldn't have lived off of breast milk for as long as they have if we didn't produce enough of something @aurielshantel :)
Yeah, it's a new thing that supposedly babies don't get vitamin d from breastmilk. My son's pediatrician suggested the drops and of course I bought them...but I've been inconsistent with giving because I think it's malarkey. •• here's an article : ссылка
