Went to the hospital for some pain and I found out my son is measuring small according to my last ultrasound.. He is in the 6th percentile they said.. I have to go to my doctor tomorrow. I had no idea the OB on call could see my ultrasound results from my check up. Has anyone else's baby measure small then be okay? I don't know a lot yet because I wasn't able to see my doctor as its Sunday, so I only got the doctor on call information. He really just said it is important that I go in tomorrow. Kind of scared right now!
My doctors appointment isn't until Thursday: / I hope they can tell me something tomorrow!
@anessafraga you will know at your appointment. They usually do my ultrasound and then I see my doc after to go over results. It is better to be early sometimes because when they can't grow, they can't mature into what they need to. My docs said 36 weeks to give my daughter the best chance of her lungs being mature enough to support her after delivery. I am just praying for a healthy baby. My soon to be middle child was born healthy at 36 weeks. It all depends on our little ones.
I have been drinking a lot of water and orange juice because of my iron pills. I usually only eat healthy stuff, greasy fatty stuff has made me sick this whole pregnancy!
I never realised before all this that delivering early could be better for the baby. I always thought no matter what its best to keep the baby in as long as possible. I think that's why this is all hitting me so hard! I knew I hadn't been gaining enough wait ( I lost a lot and just started gaining but still have only gained 3 back due to throwing up) im still under my pre-pregnancy weight. I just keep praying that I will get better news tomorrow at the ultrasound! Do they usually tell you the results right away or at your next doctor appointment? @boymomplusagirl
@anessafraga Yeah she is in the 8% and my high risk docs say that anything 5% or less they have a better chance outside than in. I had my oldest son at 32 weeks and spent a month in the nicu, and it was tough but delivering early could be best for your son. I pray he grows for you as well. My daughter went from 43% to 10% in 2 weeks, so I know how scary it is. I am glad my doctors caught it and are keeping a good watch on her. Most times there is nothing that we as parents did wrong, my doc told me to drink lots of water and to lay on my side as much as possible, to give her optimum blood flow through her cord. Make sure you are eating healthy, (as much as possible) to give the baby the best you can offer. I am hoping not to deliver too early, but we do what is best for our kiddos. Hang in there momma you are doing a good job.
She is in the 8th percentile? The nurse yesterday told me my son was in the 6th percentile :/ I really am scared to deliver early! I feel like I have to be doing something wrong and there is a way I can fix it. . This is all just really scary I just want my son to be okay. . I will pray your baby girl keeps growing!!
I have another quick question! I have my level 2 ultrasound tomorrow. Do you think it would be smart to pack my hospital bag now or wait? @littlepeanut91
My daughter has measured small since about 25 weeks. She is currently in the 8th percentile and if she goes 5% or less they will take her early. Right now she should weigh 5.5 to 6 lbs and she only weighs 4.2lbs. They are doing weekly checkups and ultrasounds and nst to make sure she is growing some and that she has not stopped completely. They think it might be due to the medication I take for heart problems or iugr. I will be 36 weeks Thursday and they wanted me to get there for her maturity.
Oh, and they said he wouldn't continue to grow inside, he needed to be out to grow :)
@anessafraga, I don't mind at all! They said my son wasn't growing on time, so they did an ultrasound and non stress test and found out my placenta wasn't doing its job as well as it should and I had low amniotic fluid, so I was told I was staying at the hospital to have my baby. Quite the experience!!! He was so tiny and perfect though so it was worth the fear <3
@anessafraga intrauterine growth restriction, it means they can't grow in the womb and better of outside. They believe my daughter has it but im not so sure.We will find out soon
If you don't mind me asking why did they decide to induce you at 36 weeks? & did you end up having a normal delivery or a csection? & did they give you anything to help develop his lungs before they induced you? Sorry for all the questions! @littlepeanut91
my daughter measures super small, she has my entire pregnancy. There isn't always something wrong with it:) Just make sure they rule out IUGR
My son measured small. I got induced at 36 weeks and had my 5 pounder :) His lungs were great and we got to go home the next day. I measured small this time too but not enough for my doctor to be worried. I think I measured 1 weeks to 2 weeks behind at my appointment the day before he was born
I don't know if you have or not but I would pack your bag just in case!
