Okay mommies, I was induced at 37 and 2 and baby girl was born at 37 and 4. She developed jaundice in just 24 hours. It has been almost two weeks and her numbers are still at 16.6. We've been doing phototherapy at the hospital but many of my friends have said sunlight is more effective. I looked it up and there are many studies that prove sunlight is about 6.5 times more effective than the lights. Just wondering what other mommies have been through and the levels their babies had. I am so ready to take my baby girl home!

That's the strange thing! We didn't have any of those issues! I have a great milk supply and she was pooping 5-8 times a day! But as soon as they had me start supplementing with formula it constipated her and now she has a hard time pooping and it makes her throw up. I have stopped giving her formula. I don't see the reason when she was doing fine before, aside from still having the jaundice.

As the jaundice goes down he'll eat a lot more. The sun really helps but the more he poops the better, while my little guy was in the NICU they had him on formula more than breastmilk because I wasn't producing enough, but once we took him home and he's solely on breastmilk and out in the son his jaundice not only leveled out but is going down

our pediatrician told us to take our son in the sun for his. it wasn't bad enough for them to do a heel prick but right before we left the hospital but we still have to do some sun and make sure he's pooping and eating enough to help get rid of it

@audans.mommy, thank you! We did phototherapy for 12 hours last Thursday/Friday then left her out for 6 hours for observation and it didn't go up too much so we went home. Then Sunday at our 2 day check up, it had went back up to 16 so we got admitted again. 12 more hours of phototherapy, and it was down to 13 and actually trended down a little during the 6 hours of observation. Then Tuesday at our next check up, it went back up to 17. When we got to the hospital it was up to 20, went down to 18, then 17, and now 16. She has been under lights since then and we are hoping to go home tomorrow. It has be under 15 for her to go home with a blanket. It's been a long process but all the other tests came back good so that's a positive.

The bad thing about the NICU is they won't allow him to be taken out nor believe in sun therapy...well at least my hospital didn't

My son was born at 34 weeks and 5 days and he has jaundice within 24 hrs...we was under the light for 48 hours and under observation without for 1 day and he came home the following..his numbers finally leveled out and lowered to 11...and every other day we go out in the sun when I'm not so tired and achy...sunlight is a good second therapy but in short spurts
