this is going to seem strange, but my belly was kind of big and hard to touch. and now it looks smaller and I can press it and squish it. I'm nearly 19 weeks and still not felt the baby move yet.
they said at the midwife last week that they don't measure or listen to heartbeats now until I go back at 28 weeks. because if they can't find the heart beat it causes mums distress and there is no where she could refer me if they didn't find one. I've not had any movement yet. they said they don't worry until 25 weeks because it's not classed as viable before then. but I'm worried because of how my belly has changed. and gone soft! has this happened to anyone else? xx
My belly used to do that too sometimes I think it's just how baby's laying. I was able to hear the heart beat at my 25 week appointment with the midwife at my doctors surgery but it probably depends where you go. You'll worry less when you can feel baby moving xx
Oh deffo @clarebear83. Pregnancy is strange at the beginning cos you know something is happening inside you but you can't see or feel it, and it is a worry. I used to worry all the time. the 16th will soon be here :). have you thought about paying for a private scan to reassure you? I had a 4d one at 16 weeks. it was lovely. xxx
@beckie88, I hope so! it's just hard not to worry! ha ha. That's probably my reason because I wasn't exactly slim before hand ha ha! have my 20 weeks scan on 16th. seems like a life time away to make sure every thing is okay.
@mich77 thanks, I really hope that is the reason for mine! never had this with my last one. I think once I've had my scan and finally feels it's little movements ill be okay. it's just horrible having no reassurance at the moment. xx
I'm 35 weeks (I think - I loose track) and even now my belly is sometimes squishy and wobbly and other times its hard to touch. I think it just depends where he's lying. @clarebear83 xx
Try not to worry too much, baby could of just moved position and gone into your back that's why you feel squishy! They didn't listen for a heartbeat at my 16week appointment but they did with my friend, apparently is because I was fat 🙈😝 but I wouldn't worry too much as I only started feeling my baby move after my 20week scan x
I think not checking the heartbeat till a bit further along would be really good, my midwife took 20 minutes to find my babies heartbeat at 18 weeks and I was in tears thinking the worst, but I could feel baby and she finally found it but it was really stressful. Also you might have felt baby but not known that was what it was, it's hard to tell if you aren't sure what to expect, but it's normal not to feel your first till early 20 weeks
