Did any of you ladies get the down syndrome test done before you had your baby...???

i wont get it because its not 100%... my mom got it when she was pregnant and it said that my brother had it and they asked her if she wanted to end the pregnancy... she said no of course and my brother doesnt even have it

yes I did at 12 weeks it also told me the gender of my baby

I'm getting it done tomorrow along with the gender blood work since my husbands sister has Aspergers.

they did it at my doctors office it was called the harmony test and it tells you the gender and if your baby is at risk for down syndrome. If you find out your baby is at risk then they do more tests if you want them done. Mine came back no risk and a boy so it was 100% accurate for me @myesha545

Asperger's is on the autism spectrum...did they actually tell you that the test for down's can test for it too? @ashsloan

@mommagotbump16, she has a extreme case of Aspergers and a very mild case of downs, and they're not testing for Aspergers they're testing for downs because it can be carried on my husbands side of the family since his sister has both.

I had it done even though my then Dr was kinda pushing abortion (at 20 something weeks) if it came back that there was a possibility. I just wanted to have it done for in case so I wouldn't be surprised if baby did have it and I'd be better prepared mentally for it

I know with my test you have to be at least 12 weeks or else its not as accurate

I got it down. the test first down syndrome test can have false positives, so if it shows up positive they tell you not to worry and then do more advanced testing to be sure.

My doctor just checked through ultrasound ☺️ something about the baby showing an extra finger or toe would have told the doctor the my baby would have Down syndrome. But she was fine 😊

You can bring it up to your doctor ☺️ I don't know what the test consists of but they can definitely check through ultrasound which might be easier on you

I chose not to. Honestly, If you know you will keep the child regardless of the outcome, there's no need for the test. But if you're questioning it, then do the test. My fiancé and I knew that no matter what we'd love and care for our child and didn't see it necessary to do any added tests.

It was standard with my first child, but this time insurance wouldn't cover it anyway. So we didn't, but we also don't have any risk factors or family history of anything either. I say it's good to know to be prepared if you're at risk, but they'd possibly see things on ultrasound too.
