All of my married friends: do y'all have in laws you can't stand? How do you deal with them?

Nope. I absolutely love my in laws lol but at first I couldn't stand them

definitely do, i just ignore them most of the time and accept them best i can for my husband and he does the same

I cannot stand my in laws. I can tolerate my father in law when he's by himself but my mother in law is ridiculous. She wants to be in control of my husband like he's still a child and I won't allow it. I didn't marry her. There aren't 3 people in my marriage. She is used to getting her way because she's loud, opinionated and a bully, and nobody ever goes against her. Well I do, and she hates that. She thinks she's got ownership over my unborn son. Wrong. So when I have to be around them, I am as civil as I can be. I make a concious effort to try to be nice and respectful until my husband is disrespected, or I am disrespected. Then I get an attitude. I wish they'd move out of state so when visits happened, it wouldn't be so difficult to see them.

I cannot for the life of me stand my MIL. for the most part I ignore her, but every little thing she does adds up till I can't hold it any longer and I usually tell her what's on my mind or wtf she's doing every few months.

@kelseys, @darianweaver my in laws have said nothing but hurtful things about me. My sister in law included. So I feel like we should cut them off completely

I adore my husband's family but hate being around them..

@kobena, mine is a spoiled brat! She is getting married in July I just RSVPED and said we aren't going.

most definitely do that! everything was fine with my mil and sil till I got pregnant with my second, and they started a bunch of drama. I live with them(not because I want to, but my husband got into something and I have to wait till October to move out of here) and once I'm out of here, I don't plan on coming around or bringing my kids because of the way I was treated for no reason.

@kelseys, do you think it's wrong if my husband doesn't go to the wedding? His sister has done nothing but bad mouth me.

I wouldn't think so. I haven't gone to any of my family events because all they have done is bad mouth my husband and I, and I wouldn't plan on inviting them to one of my events. remember, just because you're related doesn't mean you're family, family are those who are loyal to you.
