My office doesn't do them unless you've got a reason to monitor the baby. I do NSTs because I have had high BP. Usually it's a "high risk" type of thing. Fluid levels, blood pressure issues, growth concerns, etc.

There usually is a reason why they give them. with my 1st two i never had one. with the last they started them because being low on fluid. this time it's because of high bp I started at 32 weeks but would've started at 36 weeks for "advance maternal age"

some women don't get any at all, others get them often. I've gotten 2 every week since last week (36 weeks) because my son has been measuring behind and I've had other complications

they just go it. its just to monitor the baby because it's getting closer to the mums due date
